(And am happy about it!) The folks at Artbeads.com came across my creativity blog and offered me free stuff if I’d blog about their products. So I agreed, why the heck not?! They suggested I choose $35 worth of supplies so I did. (Score!!) They sent them and I opened them and LOVED them! I didn’t get around to doing anything with them for a while but then sat down one day a while back to make some earrings.
I’ve made two pairs of ultra sparkling earrings now and worn them both to compliments, thank you very much! Today they sent me a card with a $20 gift certificate in it as a way of saying thanks for the blogging… which reminded me to uh... blog something. (Check out the blog post I wrote here) Plus, there is a little coupon code worth 10% off your purchase if you should decide to pick up a few beads at Artbeads.com. The code is: “SCF10P-ARTBEADS-0424” and it is good through 12/31/09… so pop on over and pick up a few things for your Christmas projects.
Like my new header? It’s a series of about eight photos taken from my back porch this morning in the snow. I pushed the handy dandy little “stitch” button on my software and this is what it spit out. Yeah, that’s fun! It looks so different here when the leaves are on the trees, very private. We bought the house in the summer and couldn't believe it as the leaves vanished and we found the horizon and the distant mountains in blue. Mercy, I love this place! I feel very lucky to live here!
I’ve been struggling with VOX for a while now. Something about the system causes my computer to shut down Explorer when I try to refresh something or go some place new after the window has been open a while. I always have four or five windows open at the same time and VOX takes down all of them. Not my idea of impressive. I like what VOX offers, it is different here than any of the other services I use but I do grow tired of having it mess with my browser. It’s the one fatal flaw.
So check out my other blogs if you’d like:
This is where I talk about whatever project I’m working on at the moment, from house renovations to the latest thing happening in Studio B. http://croseprose.blogspot.com/
And this is where I write about art and faith. It’s very much in progress, everything on this blog is something I consider a rough draft. Feel free to drop by and leave a comment. http://mysticcall.blogspot.com/
Vox is still the place where I'd like to continue to blog about things that don't fit anywhere else. You know, me complaining about this or that. At least for now. Until I finally get fed up with the crazy glitches.
See ya in the comics
Another shameless plug for the contest on my art blog… Enter to win the goodies pictured above. Just go here and leave a comment to enter - that's it! Easy! Friday I will draw a winner and mail this out to some lucky person. Hope it's you!
Honest to Pete, there isn’t ANYTHING on TV. And when something IS on, you can’t watch the first five minutes without witnessing a graphic crime complete with all the gushing blood, over the top sound effects and creepy music! What happened to “New Amsterdam.” That one was interesting. Or how about “Chuck” which was interesting in a geeky sort of way.
I kind of like “Hell’s Kitchen” but let’s face it – Gordon Ramsy may be a genius at food, but he’s a real ass for a boss. And what’s with all the foul language and “Yes Chef” "No Chef?" What kind of person demands this cult-like subservience?
I’m not really interested in another talent competition with a tough British judge whose criticism is sometimes just downright cruel. And then there is the obligatory empty headed female judge who just wants to be nice and have people feel good.
If I want a news show, I’ll turn over to NPR or else BBC, but let’s face it. Who has the emotional energy to be THAT engaged in our political scene as things stand? Afghanistan, Iraq, Venezuela and Iran…
I really hate these dating (reality my eye) shows where a group of people are set up to group date one individual who picks them off one by one all the while acting tortured about it. The women scheme and connive to gain a man who has just been dating fifteen women? What? In what planet is that behavior attractive? Where do they find these people? The whole thing has overtones of arranged marriage and polygamy – all for entertainment? What. The. Heck.
And then there is the political scene. There isn’t a tremendous difference between the (used to be) three candidates (aside from the whole life and death in Iraq thing.) And yet there are people on all sides making mountains out of mole hills and my friends who are into politics already had their minds made up and now are just looking for information to support the position they had all along. They aren’t really listening, and only hearing what they want to hear. And the most annoying ones think the other side of the political scene is actually evil, that the media isn’t reporting the real truth, and they alone are in possession of the real truth. Uh… get a life? What a strange thing, to become an evangelist for a politician. They are human, both of them. Obama and McCain. And either one of them will make a good president in their own way and make more than their share of mistakes. Because they are both… mere mortals.
There, that’s better. I was in need of a good rant.
Tomorrow morning I get up before the sun, and become a vender at the Farmer’s Market to sell my hand made soap. Won’t that be interesting?!
Yesterday and today I am working on building a website for a friend. It’s an interesting process. He gave me the link to a website that he really likes the look of and wanted something similar. It has been very interesting to see it begin with just the basics and then plug in the material and continue to develop it. I think it would be very interesting to watch another programmer work and see how the project takes shape for them. I’m sure there would be some similarities and also major differences. Since I am self-taught I imagine there are plenty of differences in the way I work from the way others work. The idea of watching the development reminds me of time lapse photography where you get the see the movement of the clouds or stars in the night sky. It would be interesting to watch the development of a website in the same way.
If you’d like to take a look, here is the link: http://www.pastorstevepaulus.com/index.htm And I especially like this page: http://pastorstevepaulus.com/links.htm where the colors seemed to connect and blend in a way that makes me happy. I haven’t heard from Steve since yesterday afternoon very early in the development so I don’t know what he thinks of the progress. I hope to see what he thinks of things soon. I’ll include a link to another website I designed as well: http://www.stauntongrace.org/
Oh, and here is my blog that deals with whatever creative thing I'm into at the moment. Want to see what life is like for the artist who is into about fifteen different art media? That's the place where you can watch and giggle. :) http://croseprose.blogspot.com/
Tragedy:
I got to work, and there was no work to be done. Awww shucks! Some tragedy! Ha Ha! It might become tragic if we don’t get any cake orders but people are always in need of something sweet so no worries there. And Valentines will be upon us in no time. So having an unexpected day off? No tragedy there.
Triumph:
A big one! I designed the website for our congregation, nothing fancy just a nice looking fairly simple website. But I’d been hearing some rumblings here and there and the webmaster was getting material from all quarters to put on the site that shouldn’t go on, plus I had to go on and clean up some stuff that got messed up. I got frustrated and annoyed. So I called a meeting of the involved parties and pretty much laid it out there and they did to. It was a great meeting, very positive and very effective at getting the expectations clarified. Yeah baby! I’m lovin that!
Plus, I set up a blog for my pastor. He’s going to blog all he wants to and we’ll link from the church page and he’ll have complete control over his content. Best of all possible solutions for everyone and he’s pumped that it’s going to work out that easily. And I’m delighted that I got to set it up for him and show him around. Yep, I’m lovin that!
I had a nap. Twas lovely. Got little else done. Also lovely. Good day!
