I totally agree that it's a very reasonable approach. Unfortunately, those great long term changes he mentioned don't happen overnight, or in a year, or maybe even in a few years. Changes like these take time, and I wouldn't mind if the gas tax was suspended for even 1 month if it meant I could save a bit, as long as we are all still working towards the long term solution. Come on, Washington! I dare you to try to appease me for a few months. :-)
I just like Obama. And this whole quick fix thing the Clinton and Mccain are pushing just makes me wonder how dumb Americans are. I have yet to hear one economist say its a good idea, but plenty say the opposite. In fact dropping the gas tax (I think its a whopping 18 cents a gallon) would only drive up demand, which would raise prices (because supply doesn't increase) and amazingly our 'cheaper' gas is more expensive than it would have been with the tax, and who you may ask gets that extra money? I can tell you its not our decaying infrastructure (the roads we complain about and that that tax pays for). Oh, could it be... Sata... I mean the oil companies. Good thinking Clinton and McCain way to be 'in touch'. Sorry i don't usually rant or comment on things but well i felt like it.
